Well here we are again, another year to make of what we will ! I tend not make resolutions anymore as I'm not very good at keeping them (or remembering them !) however, what I do enjoy about a new year, is a new diary to fill with ideas and working projects. This year a lot of my revamped upholstery pieces will be up for sale here on the website, as I'm slowly running out of room ! I love to see furniture come to life again, and try and make time in the year to add unique pieces to my portfolio, and that way I keep learning and honing new and old skills. The bespoke ottomans and toy boxes are my favourite upholstery projects, but
what I love most about my job is the variety of projects that spring into my in-box from week to week and this year works starts in the studio on Wednesday with a set of new box cushions for a client who experienced a problem with the fabric when the cushions were washed. (My top tip for cleaning stains from upholstery fabric is never use hot water in the first instance, with the exception of oil based stains, cold water is usually enough to lift the stain or at least neutralise it. For oil based stains like butter or mayonnaise for example, reach for the washing up liquid in small quantities, dabbing not rubbing with kitchen roll or cotton buds depending on the size of the stain, to lift the stain away. If you've got removable covers and no manufacturers advice then find a good dry cleaners for advice).
Following on from the cushions I've got a set of dining rooms chairs to recover and to keep me busy between projects, I've got a beautiful ottoman to finish with wadding and fabric and another child's chair which will be reupholstered in a fun fabric of alpaca and pompom buttons.
